I'm not a huge fan of Kristen Stewart but I think her representatives have done a great job of getting her in the right roles. As long as she plays an angsty young girl then she's all set. When I read that she would be playing Joan Jett in the new movie about The Runaways I wanted to call the movie execs up and congratulate them on a great choice. Maybe I'll be wrong but for now I'm pretty psyched about this movie...

Noise Complaint Holiday Special 2009
The holiday special is my second favorite show to do every year (My favorite being the most anticipated releases show at the beginning of the year). I love taking a look back at some of the classic songs that we only get to check out for about a month each year. At least for me it's only a month. I refuse to listen to Christmas music before Thanksgiving.
I dug up some new songs this year and squeezed them in. I'm pretty pleased with the show this year but there was a video I wanted to share with you. This is the video for Merry Swiftmas written by Evan Taubenfeld. I think it's a pretty catchy and creative song.
Also just for fun you could check out the video for Billy Mack's Christmas Is All Around. Unfortunately I can't embed that video on the blog so here's the link... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c63YWSkJZc

Noise Complaint Best Of 2009 Playlist 12/14/09
I hate this show every year. I'll get more into that in a second. First, I find it interesting that it took me until the 13th of December to see my favorite show of the year. I went to the Ottobar in Baltimore last night to catch New Found Glory and Dashboard Confessional. I was surprised at how old the crowd was. It was mostly mid to late 20 somethings which is something I'm not used to at this kind of show but I suppose as the bands have aged, so have their fans. The exciting thing about this show is that it was an all acoustic show. I've never seen NFG do an all acoustic set before and I have to admit, they killed it. It was fun to watch their singer, Jordan, try to hold himself back from jumping into the crowd though. Their shows are usually so energetic and intense but they had to tone it down a bit for last night. I was also pretty blown away by Dashboard Confessional. He came out with guns blazing from "Swiss Army Romance" and "the Places You Have Come to Fear the Most." At one point he even asked the crowd, "So what do you want to hear? New stuff or all old songs?" Naturally, the crowd responded with a resounding, "Old!" The rest of the show made me reminiscent of shows back in 1999 and 2000 up in Philadelphia when I'd show up and there was this skinny tattooed guy up on stage all alone playing these acoustic songs. As much as I wanted to hate him, I just couldn't. Neither could the crowds as they would sing along with every word. I must have seen him 10 times my freshman year because he just always seemed to be opening every show. It was good to have those memories back.
Since this is the best of version of Noise Complaint, I figured I'd share with you my 5 favorite shows from the year. These are in no particular order as they were all amazing...
Dashboard/New Found Glory at the Ottobar
Taylor Swift at Merriweather (Don't be jealous)
Riverboat Gamblers/Fake Problems at the Ottobar
Big D & The Kids Table at the Talking Head Club
The Get Up Kids at the TLA
By now you're probably asking yourself, "Why does he hate this show every year?" I'll answer that question. I hate it because it puts so much pressure on me to piece together a 2 hour representation of the year in punk rock music. I know punk songs are short but is simply not enough time. After I sat back and listened to this show I thought of so many great albums that didn't make it. Records from bands like Teenage Bottlerocket, Landmines, Cobra Skulls, and Outbreak. All great albums but they didn't make the cut. The good thing about this year was that you got really into it. I had so many suggestions and requests for this year's best of show that it became pretty easy to put it together. I always say, this show is not all about me. It's much more about you so if there are some songs/artists that you want to hear, tell me. I'm all ears. You certainly told me this year and I love that. Thank you so much for that.
Here's what you picked for the best of show tonight. I hope you enjoy it...

This is a great video
Every now and then a short film will really grab my attention. It's not generally a foreign film mostly because I can't understand it. The fascinating thing about this one is that there are only a handful of words spoken in it. It's a beautiful story that proves you never know when you might find love. Enjoy.

Playlist 12-07-09
Well it's that time. Time for the final show of 2009 before we start getting into the specials. I made a conscious effort to not include any songs this week that you would hear next week on the "Best Of" show. There might be an artist or two that carry over but none of these songs will be repeated. I want to keep you in suspense as to what makes it next week. I'm pretty stoked for it. Don't forget, I'm still looking for your feedback on what are you favorite albums/songs of the year. Please get those in to jeff@noisecomplaintradio.com.

Noise Complaint Playlist 11-30-09
It's a pretty music intensive show tonight. As if it isn't always. I went home for the holidays so I had to get the show ready pretty quick. I'll have an all new show next week as we get closer to the end of the year. I think the Best of 2009 show is going to be on 12/14 so you have a couple of weeks to get your favorite songs/albums in to me.
Before I type in the playlist of the show tonight I have a video to share...big surprise. This one comes to us from Boston. The local Fox affiliate decided that the Straight Edge movement was worthy of a story and I just think it's pretty interesting to see some of my favorite music on a local news station. Enjoy...

The real playlist for Noise Complaint 11-23-09
Sorry for being late on this. Yesterday was just a really loooong day and I couldn't get it online. Everyone always loves a 3 day work week because they think it means less work but for me, it means squeezing 7 days of work into a 3 day period. I like having a couple days off but is it worth the stress before? That's enough bitching from me though. Here's what went down on the show last night...
The Riverboat Gamblers have a new video for their song "DissDissDissKissKissKiss." Take a look...
The Grabass Charlestons are back with a new song and they're putting it online for you to download for free. You can get "Dale" HERE.
This is possibly the best tour I have ever seen in my life. All 4 bands are freakin incredible. I have no idea how they even chose a headlining act here since all could do the honors. Get your passports ready to make a trip up to the great white north.
And here's what you heard on the show...
Riverboat Gamblers-DissDissDissKissKissKiss
NOFX-Cokie The Clown
The Dictators-Two Tub Man
Big Wig-Counting Down
Less Than Jake-Hell Looks A Lot Like L.A.
MXPX-One Step Further
Star Fucking Hipsters-3000 Miles
A Wilhelm Scream-Australias
The Ramones-The KKK Took My Baby Away
Garrison-Serious Heavy Drama
Flogging Molly-To Youth (My Sweet Roisin Dubh)
RX Bandits-Hope is a Butterfly, No Net It's Captor, She Beats Her Wings and Softly Sings of Summer Scent and Children's Laughter (Virus of Silence)
88 Fingers Louie-Go Away (live)
Grabass Charlestons-Dale
The English Beat-Mirror In The Bathroom
Hot Water Music-Rooftops
Over It-Wrong Way
Polar Bear Club-Living Saints
The Flatliners-This Song is like Thunder and Lightning in a Wide Open Field
